JYOTHY VERMA
(9 Years)
She is born and brought up as the 3rd child among five children in a class Hindu family in Bilaspur, Chattishghat State North India. Her father was a skilled mason and he was looking after the family very well and was going on very happily. But her father had a land dispute with a neighbor and they killed him in a night and very badly wounded the mother. She died in the hospital after few days. In fact the enemies plan was to eliminate the whole family. But some how or the other all the five children escaped unhurt.
After few days all the children were taken away, rather adopted, by some neighbors and so Jyothy was also taken by a family promising to put her to continue studies. But instead of sending to school they put as a maidservant. They never loved her but treated as a slave. So the little girl had to work day and night in the kitchen for survival.
After few months the news of these children especially about Jyothy has come to Bro.Johnson a missionary to the place. He met the family and requested them to send Jyothy in a school to continue studies but they refused it. But his constant visit made some changes in the family and finally they freed the little girl and Johnson took responsibility of the little girl. After being with them for few months they admitted her at Daya Vihar orphanage. So Jyothy has joined Daya Vihar last year.
By seeing her ability in learning we put her in an English Medium boarding school by paying a large amount for various expenses. Now she is studying in 2nd standard as one of the best students. She never had the privilege to learn English before and also our local language Malayalam which is a very difficult language to learn. But God has granted her special grace to study all these language easily and now she is the 3rd rank holder in the class. Not only that, she is doing very good in sports also. If some of you would like to donate money or other materials to these children you are most welcome to do so. PANDIAMMA
(18 Years)
She is the sister of Muttayyan one of our orphan boys. While she was eight her mother committed suicide due to the wicked life of her husband by leaving Pandiamma and two of her young brothers. Father lived in Hindu temples like a Sadhu (monk) by ignoring the children. So she had to work from very young age to feed her brothers. Thus she never had the privilege of schooling. After a year of her mother’s death both of brothers were taken by others to help in their homes and she was left alone. It was a terrible shock to the poor girl.
Then some people told her about Daya Vihar Girls orphanage and she came alone and joined. Over the past 8yrs she is in the orphanage. Though she is illiterate by her own hard work she has learned to read and write in her mother tongue. She is a beautiful young lady very active and hard working. She is now learning sewing in our tailoring institute. We pray to God for a suitable match to her. Now she is a child of God and worship the Lord with other believers.
JERUSHA (Akku)(3 1/2 Years)
She was born in a poor family in Kerala as the 3rd child. Her father is a drunkard and indulged in all kinds of wickedness and sins. He has never taken care of the family and the children. As a driver he earns and spends as he likes.
While Jerusha was 15 days old the man quarreled with his wife and slapped her very badly. By seeing the children sleep empty stomach in several nights and also the physical torture she had from the man she has committed suicide by consuming poison. Then for 2 weeks her aunt has taken her responsibility. But being poor and have own children they didn’t take much interest to have her. So just after a month they put the child in Daya Vihar girl’s orphanage. Now she is 3½ yrs old very smart and beautiful. She moves around like a butterfly in the girl’s orphanage and makes everybody happy.
ARPANA(4 1/2 Years)
She has joined girl’s orphanage from a street in Karnataka State, South India. She was with a group of nomads who plays street show. While they were training her in some show the little girl of 1½ yrs fell down from height and lost several teeth. By seeing this cruel deed the mob gathered to beat them. But by realizing the danger they left the child alone and escaped from the mob. But none in the mob was interested to save her.
A believer couple was watching this incident. Since no one came forward to take care of the child they gladly accepted her and took her to their home. They have own children and it was hard for them to take care of such a little girl. So they decided to put the child in some orphanage. When they heard about Daya Vihar they put the child in the orphanage.
When she joined Daya Vihar she was always gloomy and never looked at people due to fear. Never laughed or played with other children nor spoke a word. Very rarely she cried. She had many scar of burns in her body with cigarette. By realizing her mental and physical agony we took her to various specialist doctors. By their advices and suggestions we treated with much love and concern that the little child may realize our love and affection to her. Gradually she has made a lot of changes and by God’s grace now she is quite normal and moves with other children. She is very active, clever and a very beautiful little girl and study in LKG in our school.
MAYA (5 Years) She is born as an illegitimate child in one of the nearby village of the girl’s orphanage. While she was 2yrs she lost her mother and father was not interested in her. Since the last 3yrs she is in the girl’s orphanage and studying in UKG at Daya Vihar English Medium School.
SALAMATH (4 Years) She is born as the only child in a very poor Muslim family. Being a female child neither her parents nor others were interested to take care of the baby. SUKANYA (6 Years) She is another village girl. Her father is a Muslim and mother is a Hindu, a mental retard and a handicap. Father is a lazy fellow who never loved and cared for the family. Sukanya is also a mental retard and dumb. Since there was none to earn in the house life was miserable in the family. The children never had enough to eat or parentally care from parents. Some compassionate neighbors fed Sukanya and her young brother with what they have. Later they brought Sukanya and Abin to Daya Vihar. She is six and unable to study but we put her in the school with other children.
ABIN (4 Years) He is the brother of Sukanya and is a prey of starvation. He was much behind in normal growth due to lack of proper nutritious food. Till 1½yrs he was a cradle boy without normal functioning. When we brought the boy to the orphanage he was a surprise to us because his growth and functioning were far behind from other normal children. We have taken Sukanya and Abin to several specialist doctors for treatment and advices. According to them both of them are abnormal children and in future also there won’t be much mental progress. He has started walking just a year ago talks few words and moves with other children. We pray to God that He might do great things in their life that they may not be a burden to others and the society.
PRIYA (5 Years) She is born to a poor couple. Her father was unhappy because of the birth of a female child in the family. So soon after her birth he left home and never returned. Then her grand father took responsibility of the mother and the child.
But when she has decided to have a second marriage none was interested to marry her because of Priya. Since she felt the child is a stumbling block to her future life she left six months old child at girl’s orphanage and married another man. Though she had promised to visit her occasionally but had never been to see her. Since the last 4½ yrs Priya is in girl’s orphanage and studying in LKG at Daya Vihar School.

Later she married a man who agreed to take care of Pavithra also. But later she became a burden in their family life. So the man left them and married another lady and Pavithra’s mother also married another man. Thus the little child became an orphan. Then some good neighbors fed the child for few months. RANI (4 Months) She is another little child joined in 2nd week of June 2006. She is born to a young woman who was a nomad. The mother died at the birth of this child and there was none to take care of the little baby. Usually they leave the newborn child as it is and go away. But somebody from their group rescued the child and taken care of her for four months. When they realized the child is a liability to them they left the child at Daya Vihar Girls orphanage. While joined Rani was unhealthy and very sickly. Daya Vihar is taking care of her as our own child and counts it as a privilege to serve the poor. In villages medical facilities are extremely poor and we have to travel over 50 miles to consult a Pediatrician. Now Rani is slowly coming to normal growth.
JOYCE (2 Years) Joyce is born and brought up in an interior village in Tamil Nadu. Her mother died while she was only eight months old. Her father married another lady by leaving the child very soon. So her aged grand father took responsibility of the child. The man whose wife died long back is unable to work any more due to old age and sickness. So he was in search of a safe place to admit the child. Finally he finds out Daya Vihar Girls orphanage as a safe place to her. Now she is in Daya vihar with other children.
VINITHA(2 Years), SUNITHA (6 months) They are sisters born illegitimately to a young woman. She came to the mutual understanding with a man to live together till death without marriage. So they lived together and the lady became a mother for two female children. But the man had a legal wife and children and unfortunately it was not revealed to her.
When the 2nd child was born the man wanted to give the baby to some orphanages. But the lady refused and quarrel started in the family. Then the man left her and has joined to his first wife and children. So she finds it is hard to feed the children without any income. Life became a real threat and miserable to her. So she finds a solution to end all problems by committing suicide with the children. When some social workers came to know about it they contacted me and have briefed about the lady and her plan of suicide. In fact we have no place to accommodate any more. At the same time if refused admission she would commit suicide. So by realizing the grave situation we have admitted the children at Girl’s Orphanage. Now the children are happily living with us. So Daya Vihar is engaged not only in feeding the orphans but also saving precious life from death and eternal destruction.
GLADY (7 Days Old) Glady is born in one of the interior villages in Tamil Nadu state as the 4th female child. So the parents decided to do away with the child at birth. There was another baby girl who is born two days earlier than Glady and to them also the health visitor told the same thing. They too agreed to deliver the baby to the orphanage. But the nurse had to attend a conference and she left for two days. She returned after a couple of days and informed us about the babies and we went with her to collect the children. But by the time the first one was killed and we could receive only the 2nd child.
Now Glady is in the Girls orphanage as the youngest child. Our sisters are taking care of her as their own child. She needs a sponsor.
