(A place for the mental retard and physically handicapped)



It is started in 2006 June. In our society there are number of children who are either mentally or physically disabled. The govt and various social organizations do a lot to bring up the physically handicapped to the main line. But the MR are the most neglected ones in the society and even the parents are not interested in them. They are either a liability or a burden to the family. Few parents really burdened about the future of these children after their death.

It is says one out of 350 birth is either a mental retard or physical handicap. In this modern age the number is increasing. In many homes the parents feels that MR is a shame or disgrace to the family and they don’t expose them outside. They are either locked in a room alone or with a servant. Then thru out their life they suffer like a chicken without head and without have any contact with the world outside.

Daya Vihar Orphanage has few such children and we are much concerned about them. Several times we talked about them in the Board meeting but we could not do any thing due to lack of funds. But we were praying that the Lord may open up a way to take care of these children. But in our surprise the Lord has spoken to a brother working out side as a doctor thru an incident. Then he wrote to me an incident he has seen and his burden for the mental retard children and the need to take care of them. So we both decided to have a special school for MR and in June 2006 we have started a school in a hired building.

Now admission is granted to 20 children of various age groups. Five people are working fulltime for them including three specially trained teachers. Not only that a Psychologist, a physiotherapist and a Doctor is attending on them. Our vehicle is collecting the children to school every day from various parts of the town.

It is our desire to bring these children to the mainline to stand their own feet without a burden either to their parents or to their own people. Most these children are poor and parents are unable to bear any financial liabilities to support to them. So we do all help freely including transportation. But every month we have to pay salary to the staff, rent to the building, maintenance of the vehicle and various other expenses and needs a big amount.

We request you friends by considering these poor children please sponsor a child with $30/- per month. According to your financial position you may please meet the expenses of some instruments for physiotherapy or one year rent to the building or any help as you wish.  DAYA VIHAR SUNSET HOME - A home for the aged.

It is another venture of faith for the aged destitute. There are many aged people wandering in the streets without shelter to spend the last days of their life. Several of them have children, wealth and property. But they are unlucky to enjoy their facilities.

When they are old, weak physically and mentally, unable to work anymore their children take away all their wealth and property and push them out into the streets like an unwanted element. Then they take shelter at the veranda of some closed shops or under the tree and live on alms in the remaining days of their life. In a few years they become very sick and die at the roadside by starvation or sickness. Their burial will be in public graveyard without any relative of children attending the funeral.

By seeing several destitute Daya Vihar has taken up the challenge by opening a home for them along with the Girls orphanage. At present 7 are housed. We provide them free food, shelter, clothes, medicine and personal attention.

There are many more wanting to take shelter in this Sunset home. But we have no room to accommodate them. We need to construct a home to accommodate more people. Your support by prayer and finance is appreciated.
